Also as suggested when I click to 'Click to install the MU Catalog ActiveX control' pops up. My question is how one can resolve this for printer connectivity to new computer system. I am told that the new computer systems do not come with Parallel Port. The desktop/Notebook does not have any Parallel port. I am in the process of buying a computer and worried about HP 1100 printer under Windows 7. I have HP 1100 printer using under Windows XP Pro operating system. Then I just browsed to it with the 'Have Disk.' Option and voila.

So I just renamed the.cab file to something shorter and then I was able to extract the files. One hitch, the filename was so long that winzip wasn't happy.

You just add the drivers you need to your basket (it's kinda like shopping but the drivers are free) and then you just view the basket and download your drivers. I did a search for my laserjet 1100 and it returned results that were listed for Windows 7. And then a ray of hope, I found a link to the Microsoft hardware update catalog. I couldn't even get it to accept the driver off the Vista 圆4 install DVD. I scanned down the HP list twice and even tried the HP website (which doesn't even have a Vista one since it was on the DVD). It's always depressing when you install the latest OS only to find that your old reliable peripheral just isn't listed anymore. Looking at the 1998 HP LaserJet 1100 Quick Reference Guide that I do at least have, I'm not sure that I've been had!!! Any help is greatly appreciated!! Does anyone know where I might be able to download (free hopefully) the drivers for the HP LaserJet 1100 so it will work with my Dell Windows 7? (Unfortunately, the sellers of the USB/Parallel Port adapter cable told me it was 'plug-n-play.' Lo and behold the HP LaserJet 1100 works! I purchased a USB adapter that connects with the 'smaller' proprietary connection on the HP and I know the my Windows 7 Home edition is communicating with it. I found an HP LaserJet 1100 b/w laser printer with a full toner cartridge in the PC/Printer, etc. LOts of drafts, lots of reports for my job-all in black and white, the singular ink that makes the color 'all-in-one' less useful and much more expensive. Though I have an all-in-one color printer for pictures and other documents, overwhelmingly I write short stories (and some long ones) but Great American Author not me!
